Malaika Arora Khan was born on the 23rd August 1973 in Mumbai which is in Maharashtra state in India. Her father was a Punjabi and her mother was a Malayali Catholic. Her father was in the Merchant Navy and she completed her schooling also from Mumbai.

She began her career when M Tv began its operations in India and she was one of the first M Tv VJs in India. Shebecame one of the most popular non Cinema urban female faces of India. She anchored programs like Love Line and Style Check and hosted many award ceremonies and concerts on television channel.

She the  also started modeling for herself and appeared in many ads and if people would remember she first appeared in a film in 1993 called Aaja Meri Jaan at a very young age. It was not until the1998 movie Dil Se, that she acquired the limelight.

Her item number in the movie Chaiyya Chaiyya was an instant hit and people wanted to see more of her dance items in movies. The year 2000 saw her in the Bobby Deol movie called Bichhoo in which she made special appearance.

In 2001 she was in the movie Indian and it was not until the next year that she again got noticed for her role in the movie called Kaante which had a lot of stars in it. Then she appeared in a lot of movies only for songs. 2005 saw her in Kaal and the year 2007 became the year for her special appearances in songs.

She featured in Heyy Babyy title song, Atidhi a Telugu movie and then in Om Shanti Om songs also. She was also in Welcome for a song. 2010 she appeared in Housefull and 2008 in EMI. Her Future projects involve movies like Dabanng.
