Kareena Kapoor was born on the 21st of September 1980 to the first family of the Indian Cinemas the Kapoor family. Her parents Randhir Kapoor and Babita were also actors of their own times. Her elder sister Karisma is also a very famous actress and one can say she was born in a family of stars and enjoyed limelight from a very young itself.

Her first movie however came in the year 2000 when she stared opposite Abishek Bachchan in Refugee. The melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is one of the biggest successes of her film career in 2001. She did go on to star in movie like Mujhe Kucch Khena Hai opposite Tusshar Kapoor and in Yaadein which was not a box office success.

She got her first Filmfare Award Nomination for her role opposite Shahrukh Khan in Ashoka. Her role in the movie Ajnabee directed by Abbas Mustan was also liked by the people. The years 2002 to 2003 proved to be commercially unsuccessful for her as six of her films were unsuccessful for her.
