Celina Jiya Jaitley, the 4th runner up of Miss Universe Contest 2001 was born to an Indian Army Colonel V.K. Jaitley and Meeta, on 9th June, 1981.  Her father is Punjabi while her mother is an Afghani.

As she had to spend her childhood days in different locations due to her dads repeated transfer to different cities, she had to study in different schools. As a child she had an urge to join the Indian army like her dad as a Pilot or being a Doctor.

But at last she ended up being a Commerce graduate with Honours in Accountancy and joined a cell phone company. It was then she won a local beauty contest and within a fortnight earned fame and inspiration to participate in Miss India Contest. She even won the crown Miss India in 2001.

She won three more titles namely, the Miss Margo Beautiful Skin, India Times Surfers Choice along with MTVs Most Wanted award.  Thereafter represented India in the Miss Universe Pageant, where she became the 4th runner-up.
 
She never had to look back after the event. She was seen in numerous videos including Bombay Vikings’ Zara Nazron Se Kehdo. Her debut in Bollywood industry was in 2003 through Janasheen, directed by Feroz Khan where she was casted in the leading role opposite to Fardeen Khan.

The same year she was seen in Khel. In 2005, she was seen in Silsilay, No Entry and Suryam-a Telugu film. In 2006 her films Jawani Diwani, Tom, Dick, and Harry, Apna Sapna Money Money sis average in box office.  In 2007, she was offered to act in an international romantic comedy movie Love Has No Language in New Zealand.

In India her films Red: The Dark Side and Shakalaka Boom Boom did fair performance the same year.Her other films are Money Hai Toh Honey Hai , Golmaal Returns , Paying Guests, Accident on Hill Road, Hello Darling ,The Quest of Scheherazade. Her forthcoming film projects are Run Bhola Run, Will You Marry Me? And Thank You.
